Do you pray once or do you keep praying ?

There are some that would say both. There was a minister on TV just a short time ago, who said, " Anyone who says you only pray once is full of beans". He then said, “there are many scriptures to back that up.” The one he gave was, Luke11: 5-8   And He said to them, "Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves; 6- for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7- and he will answer from within and say, ‘Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you’? 8- I Say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs
Most people interpret this as; because of the man’s persistence his friend gave him bread. In fact many modern translation even use that word persistence, since it is so commonly believed. The king James uses the word Importunity. If you did a word study you will see that it means, confident or convincing. Therefore, the neighbor remembered that he had a covenant with the man and had to rise and give his friend bread. Importunity does not mean persistent. It is the attitude that the man had that made the neighbor realize. It was not that the neighbor just gave up and said if I don't give it to him he won’t go away. There is a difference, the neighbor had every right to tell him to get lost, and this guy was disturbing his sleep. But he realized that the man had a right to ask him for the bread and he had to honor his friend’s request.

That's one area that confuses the answer. Next, let us ask what pray is? If pray is pleading with God for something that we want, then we are heading in the wrong direction. The Lord said all my answers are yes and amen, 2 Cor 1:20. Also (2 Pet 1:4) by which, have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. . (Eph 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, and many, many more. If fact, that is a topic of it's own. The important point to realize here is, we don't have to get God to do anything for us; he has already done everything for us. All you have to do is to take hold of it. By that I mean, if someone put money in you account, it is yours, but until you go to the bank and take it out you really don't have the benefit of it. So what prayer is really, is saying what God already has said about the situation. You simply find the scriptures on what ever you need, healing, finances, deliverance, everything is in there. Then just say what the word of God says...And except that God has already given it to you, you just needed to ask for it. That is agreeing with God. The word says if two or more agree it shall be done for you. God is one and you are two. I know this seems strange, because you are conditioned to do it the opposite way. This is why you have to renew your mind to God's ways. It is something that you have to take the time to do; it will not come magically, by just waiting for it to happen. So you have to pray according to his will, his will is his word. If he says you can have it, you can have it. So find the scripture and except the gift that it's yours. (1 John 5:14) Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

The only reason that someone would say to pray over and over again is because they don't know that God already said he would do it. They don't know what else to do, so out of desperation they keep at it. Now on the other hand, you can't just pray once and then bit your nails until it happens. That is what some people have a tendency to do when they first hear you don't have to keep asking for the same thing over and over again. So what do we do until we get what we are asking for? Lets look a little at how God operates. Then you can see a little bit better, on the way you should pray and receive the things you need, from God. God said, "I sent my word to heal thee." God has already given us everything He is going to give us, when he made the covenant. God doesn't make mistakes; he doesn't say oh I didn't know about that. I take it back. No, that's not how God operates. We are talking about God almighty, he knows exactly what he is doing.

So it is God's word that does it. God calls his word incorruptible seed, seed that cannot fail. Like any seed it must be planted into good ground or it wont produce anything. Do you know you have good ground? Yes God has given it to you when you received the new birth. You received a new spirit and that the bible says is good ground. Our reborn spirit man or heart is where the Holy Spirit has moved into. Because God is a spirit, you can only relate to God through the spiritual realm. Everything thing that comes to us is spiritual, or else it has no power, it must come from our spirit man, into the natural realm. He gives us all spiritual blessings. Out of the abundance of out heart the mouth speaks. You must believe it with your heart and say it with your mouth. When it comes from the heart and not the head then you have the power of God coming forth to bring results. You know that the spiritual things that come from God manifest into physical things that we can touch and see. That is how God created everything you see. God spoke through the Holy Spirit and it became.

That is how we receive things, by his word. Now you know that the enemy is going to do everything he can to keep you from receiving anything from God. He has no power over you; all he can do is deceive you. To put doubt in your heart, the symptoms will get worse, the money will get tighter, etc. You have to come against these things with the word of God, so you better have some word in your heart and not your head or he will just laugh at you. When Jesus was in the wilderness and satin tempted him, what did he use logic? Religious sayings? No he used the pure word of God and satin had to flee. Lets look at it from a different angle. It is the same thing, but might help you to understand it better. The word says, when you ask you can't waiver, but believe with your heart and you will receive it. (Mark 11:24) "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Well where are you going to get the faith to believe. (Rom 10:17) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. . If faith comes from the word of God and you have to believe with your heart, you better get some word in your heart. Right?

The next thing you need to do after you pray about something is to praise and give thanks to God. That's how you show that you believe his word. You're thanking him for sending the word that will do the thing that you need done. You are thanking him for already doing it for you, so you don't have to beg him to do it for you. That is also a way to get into the secret place and you are protected from everything there, Psa: 91. But I must tell you doing these things take more than a quick prayer in the morning. It may be hard of the flesh at first, but if you do you it, God will not fail you. Hope this helps with this very common question.
